Bring Innovation to
the Forefront of the Design Process
14 July 2006
With the consumer goods market
expected to grow by more than
12% per year over the next 3
years, manufacturers of styled products face
growing pressure to produce innovative and
eye-catching products. They have to increase
collaboration, improve management of changing
market requirements, reduce product lifecycle
costs by minimizing the use of physical
prototypes, eliminate data conversion and deliver
the right products to the consumer on time.

Dassault Systèmes has tailored its Styled
Plastic and Packaging (SP&P) Solution to
meet the demands of manufacturers in the
Consumer Goods and Consumer Electronics
market with a complete and integrated
portfolio of tools to easily create, simulate and
modify complex and innovative product
shapes. It is comprised of CATIA V5 for
product design and simulation, ENOVIA
SmarTeam for process and lifecycle management
and a set of dedicated V5 PLM
Practices in the form of training. |
|
SP&P solutions feature two key products -
Imagine and Shape for rapid creation of complex
surfaces and Functional Molded Part
dedicated to the creation of molded parts. |
Phil Gray, Managing Director of Quadro
Consulting comments ”Without a doubt,
CATIA V5 is the best surfacer on the market…
it is just fantastic. The latest modules like
Functional Molded Part and Imagine and
Shape are the icing on the cake.”
With SP&P designers can rapidly innovate,
create and visualize their products by taking
advantage of subdivision surface technology
and intelligent features. This helps speed up
design time and improves flexibility when
making changes. They can also use templates
and design rules to increase productivity,
reduce errors and standardize design methodology.
With CATIA V5’s rendering capabilities,
product changes, displayed in 3D very early
in the design process, make it possible for
designers to see the impact these changes
have on the design. The resulting product is
better in quality, more innovative and closer
to the needs of the consumer. Finally, thanks
to ENOVIA SmarTeam, the designer has better control over a product’s lifecycle
through increased collaboration |
CATIA V5 AND ENOVIA SmarTeam Best Practices for SP&P
