BPC accelerates supply chain productivity, profitability, and ROI

Dassault Systèmes
(DS) a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced a new Industry Solution Business Process Content (BPC), specifically designed for the automotive sector called PowerFeature. Powerfeature standardizes and automatizes quality control across the entire supply chain, with a full feature based part design strategy, integrating processes from design, process planning to manufacturing.

“Through a successful collaboration between Dassault Systèmes and DaimlerChrysler, DS adapted and enhanced the key business processes originally developed by DaimlerChrysler to create PowerFeature,” says Klaus Peter Berg, Manager of IT Production, DaimlerChrysler AG. “This Industry Solution is a central component of the upcoming CATIA V5 rollout for DaimlerChrysler and its suppliers.” As part of an ongoing strategic relationship, Dassault Systèmes contributes to DaimlerChrysler’s more efficient and profitable supply chain.

Drawing on 25 years of innovation, Dassault Systèmes bases its state-of-the-art Industry Solutions on sector-specific PLM practices, covering innovative and well-proven business scenarios. In order to develop BPCs – accelerators - DS engineers first identify customers’ specific needs and the associated industrial processes, then create a preconfigured solution to be leveraged by multiple customers, either from the same industry or with the same processes. These “accelerators” enable more customers to benefit from in-depth industry knowledge- at a fraction of the cost.

DaimlerChrysler selected DS partner Transcat PLM GmbH & Co. KG to implement the integrated PLM solution in December 2006. DaimlerChrysler, Transcat PLM and Dassault Systèmes will demonstrate PowerFeature to a group of industry suppliers at a dedicated seminar, which will take place in Stuttgart, Germany on October 17, 2006. Further information about the product will be available after the seminar on the DaimlerChysler engineering portal:

The DC PowerFeature is currently part of the supplier package, but in order for the supplier to use it, they currently have to request a license. See screen shot attached  from the DC supplier package installation instructions.

Announcement concerning rollout of CATIA V5R16
The Rollout for CATIA V5R16 is anticipated to be concluded on 1st December 2006, so that productive employment for V5R16 is planned starting from 4th December 2006. A new supplier package will also be made available with V5R16. DC will inform you soon concerning the contents via a further Newsletter.
